To trace out the out of school students or OoSC in Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2023-24, the Samagra Shiksha and the Dept of Elementary education would be conducting door-to door surveys in April.
It must be recalled that over the last academic year, the school education dept made news when it conducted surveys in phases for identifying children between age 6 and 18 who have not enrolled or dropped out from the schools. It is noteworthy that the survey is facilitated by a mobile application. Beginning from April, the survey would go on till May month. No child would be left out by the survey and the chief educational officers would be very busy. Point is that this would include children who are differently able and children of migrant labourers etc.
Persons who would be playing a huge role in the upcoming door to door survey are school heads, teachers, anganwadi workers, NGOs, school management committee members etc. Volunteers belonging to Illam Thedi Kalvi would also be contributing from their side.
Those children who are out of school among platform dwellers, among the families under flyovers, among slums and in the coastal places etc, would be identified by the group.
