Great news regarding the beautification of parks in Chennai!!

If you go around Chennai, then you might come across many beautification works being carried out in the parks now. The good news is that GCC has begun restoration of parks in Chennai. Various works such as putting up new benches, kids play equipment installation and painting works etc are being done by GCC.
To finalise the number of additional benches, kids play equipment etc the officers from all the 15 GCC have started to hold meetings with the residential associations. As per the demands of the residents as many as 786 parks would be beautified by the GCC.
For the development of infrastructure in the parks, GCC has received many proposals under the Namakku Namae Thittam. It is now said that 104 stretches of road meridian, 113 traffic islands, 163 roadside parks would be renovated. Information collected is that of the total 786 parks, as many as 584 parks are being maintained by private contractors and 145 by GCC employees.
Local ward development funds are being spent for parks in their wards by the councillors. In many parks, gym equipment has also been installed. The old playing equipment in the parks have been damaged and the residents have asked for best quality playing equipment for the playing kids. It was later mentioned by a Nungambakkam resident that GCC engineers must check the kids` playing equipment quality to avoid accidents in the parks. As per a GCC official, the work of the development of toilets in the parks would be completed by April
