How would you react when you come to know that a music concert took place on the sea in Chennai? Thrilled and surprised right!!
Madras Commune monthly experience concert series organised this unique boat music concert and grabbed many eyeballs. The music enthusiasts would never forget this thrilling experience of a boat concert. This Pink Moon Boat Concert conducted by the famous singers Maalavika Sundar and Kashyap Ragjuraman stole many hearts.
The creative director of Madras Commune, Mr. Kashyap spoke about how the idea of organising the first ever boat concert came about. He mentioned that the full moon in April was commonly called the Pink Moon and both he and Maalavika Sundar decided to host the music concert on the sea. Truth is that they wanted the music enthusiasts to listen to the music live with a rare phenomenon of pink moon around them.
In the first step, the concept of having music on the boat was finalised and then permission was obtained from the concerned authorities. Approval was obtained from both the TN Tourism IAS Mr.Sandeep Nanduri and from Mr. Krishnamurthy, boat house manager of Muttukadu boat house team. Once approval was obtained by them to conduct the unique concert on the boat Kashyap and Malavika went to Muttukadu every day to survey the place. They discussed many things regarding the plans to create a concert atmosphere on the sea. With respect to safety, poles were fixed on the ocean to prevent any wandering of the boats. They both were hugely supported by the staff from the Kanathur police station and by the on ground coordinator Mr. Asan Ali etc.
In December 2021, Kashyap and Maalavika founded Madras Commune to promote and encourage independent artists. It is sensational to note that they both host music concerts every month in several locations in cafes, rooftops, lounges and beaches etc.
