The Southern Railways or SR has begun preparing for the operation of Vande Bharat VB high speed trains on the Chennai to Madurai route now.The exact date on which the VB train would run on this route is still not clear. The pit lines at the railway yard to maintain the rake at Madurai is being prepared now and this was as per some sources in the Southern Railways. It is now said that the railway track would be readied for a train speed of 130kmph.
It was revealed by an officer from SR that the tracks were good for better speed only between Chennai and Villupuram and permissible speed could be increased later on. For operating the modern train set, the zone has selected Coimbatorre & Madurai as destinations.
The Railway ministry after launching Chennai-Coimbatore VB train has allotted VB rake for Thiruvananthapuram-Kannur route. By the end of April, it would be flagged off.
