The director of Chennai Meteorological Center Mr. R, Senthamarai Kannan in a press release has mentioned that in the lower layers of upper air atmosphere in south India there is an area where easterlies and westerlies meet. From 1st of May that is today till 3rd of May, light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning could take place in majority of the places and at few places on 4th of May.
It was also mentioned that in 21disticts today 1st of May there would be very heavy rains with strong winds in districts like Ranipet, Vellore, Thirupathur, Thiruvannamalai, Salem, Dharmapuri, Nigris, Erode, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Namakkal, Tenkasi, Tiruppur, Karur, Kallakurichi, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Perambalur and Trichy etc.
In Chennai, the sky would be partly cloudy and there would be moderate rains with lightning and thunder in few places in the city.
