Normally in May, the weather would be very hot and sultry in Chennai but now the weather is cooler in Chennai and its suburbs. People are enjoying the pleasant weather conditions now.
It is now said that the Cyclone Mocha that is likely to brew over the south east Bay of Bengal would be bringing back the hot weather in Chennai and its suburbs in the next week.
As per IMD it would provide a path and intensification of the system after the formation of a low pressure area but weather bloggers were of the view that the system would turn into a cyclone and move towards Myanmar. This would lead to an increase in the temperatures in Chennai and its suburbs after 10th May. It is said that the system would take away the moisture in the atmosphere.
There would be light rains combined with lightning and thunderstorms in the next 48 hours in Chennai and its nearby places.Chennai would have partly cloudy skies and the maximum temperature would be 35 to 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temp would be around 27 degrees Celsius.
Around 6th May, a cyclonic circulation would develop over southeast Bay of Bengal and a low pressure area might form under its influence over the same region on 7th of May. This was according to IMD. Around 8th of May, it would further intensify into a depression and move north towards central Bay of Bengal.
It was mentioned by Mr. Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist of Skymet Weather that the temp would increase by 2 to 3 degrees when the system moves northwards. Yesterday, Friday, at both Nungambakkam and in Meenambakkam the temperatures were 34.1 degrees Celsius. The average temperature for the May month is 37.1 degrees Celisus. He concluded that in the next 2 days Chennai might receive rains and afterwards the weather might become dry.
