The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed us that there are prospects of medium rain in Tamil Nadu in the next five days.
The cyclone `Mocha,` which was present in the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Bay of Bengal, intensified into a strong cyclone and drifted north as of today (Friday, 12th May) at 5.30 AM. It intensified further into a very strong cyclone and is currently prevailing over the central and adjacent southeast Bay of Bengal, at a distance of 530 km from Port Blair, Andaman, in the north-northwest.
It may further drift towards the central-east Bay of Bengal and intensify further. It may cross the coast on 14th May at noon, via southeast Bangladesh and the northern Myanmar coastal areas, at a speed of 15-150 kmph and intermittently at speeds of 175 kmph.
Due to this, there are prospects of widespread rain today (Friday, 12th May) in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.
As for the 13th to 15th of May, there are prospects of widespread rain with lightning and thunder in several parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.
There are prospects of the temperature gradually increasing from the 12th of May until the 16th of May by 2-3 Degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature on the 14th, 15th, and 16th May may be higher by 2-3 Degrees Celsius in one or two places.
Regarding the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will remain somewhat cloudy in the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature will be 35 Degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be 26-27 Degrees Celsius.
