It is now expected that certain operational problems would arise when the new bus terminus at Kilambakkam starts to function. To overcome this, CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has formed a coordination committee under Mr. AR. Rahul Nath, Chengalpattu collector.
At an amount of Rs 393crores , the new bus terminus is being constructed at Kilambakkam near Guduvanchery in south Chennai. This new bus terminus would be inaugurated in the June month.
It was brought out by an officer from CMDA that the coordination committee headed by Chengalpet collector having govt departments covering traffic, water, electricity etc would go into facilities that would be essential for the new bus terminus to function smoothly.
Information gathered is that the committee would have 19 members that would include TambaramTraffic Deputy Traffic Police Commissioner, CUMTA special officer, Tangedco Superintending Engineer and Southern Railways Regional Manager and General Managers of state transport corporation etc. These persons would play a huge role of a facilitator in preventing the traffic congestion.
On Monday, theCMDA minister Mr. PK. Sekarbabu made his presence felt with other senior officers from CMDA at the new bus terminus at Kilambakkam. The completion of various infrastructural works have been given huge importance now by the CMDA minister.
The CMDA minister then took part in discussion regarding several issues that were associated with the maintenance of the new bus terminus, 24 hour supply of electricity and water, prevention of water stagnation etc. He spoke about how the previous govt was only concerned about the construction of the new bus terminus but it did not give much importance to the traffic congestion issue that would be present once the bus terminus gets opened for the public. He concluded that the rectifiations of these issues led to the delay in the opening of the new bus terminus at Kilambakkam.
