Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) is yet to finalize the traffic arrangements surrounding the newly constructed Kilambakkam bus terminus, leading to a potential postponement of its inauguration to July.
Speaking to the press, CMDA minister PK Sekarbabu revealed that the government had initially planned to inaugurate the bus stand in June. However, inadequate planning of traffic arrangements by the previous administration has prompted the need for further adjustments. "We acknowledge the traffic concerns and will work towards resolving them. As a result, the inauguration might be postponed to July," he stated.
In the meantime, the CMDA is actively searching for suitable parking space to accommodate private omni buses. The Minister personally inspected a site on Monday as a potential location for the parking facility. Emphasizing the importance of this provision, he mentioned, "Private omni buses will be operating from the bus terminus. The space we are looking for is intended to cater to future requirements."
As the CMDA addresses the traffic challenges and finalizes the necessary arrangements, the Kilambakkam bus terminus eagerly awaits its inauguration, which is now anticipated to take place in July. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
