Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded a contract worth Rs. 533.87 crores by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for the design and installation of electrical systems in CMRL Phase II. The contract includes the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of RSS, ASS, and SCADA systems for Corridor 3 and Corridor 5, along with the depot at Madhavaram.
The aim is to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the underground and elevated stations in these corridors. The contract, funded by JICA, was awarded after a competitive bidding process.
The agreement was signed between CMRL`s Director (Systems and Operations) and L&T`s Head of Contracts Substation Business Unit. This contract marks a significant step forward in the development of CMRL Phase II and the enhancement of Chennai`s metro rail infrastructure.
