The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced temporary traffic diversions on EVR Salai (Poonamallee High Road) to facilitate the construction of a culvert by the Highways department at the Gandhi Irwin Bridge junction. The diversions will be implemented from Saturday, June 10, 10 pm until Monday, June 12, 5 am.
During this period, the following traffic arrangements will be in place:
- No restrictions on plying vehicles on EVR Salai from Central and EVK Sampath Road junction towards Egmore via Gandhi Irwin Bridge.
- Vehicles traveling from L.G Roundana towards Gandhi Irwin Bridge Road will not be permitted to proceed to EVR Salai. Instead, they will only be allowed to make a left turn at the signal (Gandhi Irwin Bridge) towards Egmore Railway Station and Whannels Road.
- There will be no restriction for vehicles coming from Central and EVK Sampath Road junction on EVR Salai towards Egmore through the outgoing side of Gandhi Irwin Bridge.
- Vehicles diverted at Gandhi Irwin Bridge (Top) Junction will need to proceed towards Gandhi Irwin Road, Udipi Point, and take a right turn towards Dr Nair Bridge and EVR Salai to reach their intended destination.
The traffic diversions have been put in place to ensure the smooth execution of the culvert construction work. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow the designated diversion routes. The GCTP urges all motorists to adhere to traffic rules, exercise caution, and cooperate with the authorities during this period.
