The Highway department is now busy in widening the 8km road stretch of Tambaram- Mudichur- Sriperumbudur. The news is that nearly 60percent of the work has been completed till now. An amount of Rs 95 crores would be spent for this widening work and the road would be converted from 2lane into a 4 lane.
It is now said that this road widening would make the light vehicles to proceed from the GST Road to the Chennai- Bengaluru Highway. Point to be noted is that this road usually witnesses heavy traffic and it runs through many villages like Manimangalam, Chettupattu, Pazhaya Pattu, Mannivakkam and Pushpagiri.
The sources from the Highways dept mentioned that 13km of28km road was of 4 lane width. The sources added that the road widening work is on schedule as acquisition of lands and encroachments removal have been completed already. The road widening work is now expected to get over before December month. The Highways dept has been carrying out the widenig work only in the night time for about 5hours due to the heavy traffic here.
According to a private taxi driver it was clear that the road has been superb for those wishing to reach the industrial estates in Oragadam and Sriperumbudur.
