It has been announced that the Railways would not be responsible for the failure of the passengers to keep their items secure and safe!
This announcement has come after a recent enquiry conducted by the Supreme Court when the National Consumers Commission ordered the Railways to pay a compensation of Rs. 1 Lakh for a businessman!
It is further announced that the Railways cannot undertake the responsibility for the failure of the passengers to keep their items safe and secure! This has been announced by the Supreme Court in a recent enquiry on the National Consumer Commission Judgment that the Railways had to pay Rs. 1 Lakh to a businessman.
A businessman had appealed to the National Consumers Commission that he lost Rs. 1 Lakh during his train travel. He further appealed that the Railways should retrieve his lost money and give it to him.
When this petition came up for enquiry, Judges Vikram Nath and Azanudeen Amanulla informed: "We cannot understand the statement that Railways should be held responsible for this! The Railways cannot undertake the responsibility for a passenger failing to keep his/her items safe!"
When the Railways appealed against the judgment given by the National Consumers Commission for the Railway Administration to pay Rs. 1 Lakh to a businessman, the Supreme Court has given the above verdict while enquiring about this petition by the Railways!
