Evening clinics in Chennai serving the purpose for which they were inaugurated!!

For the last few days, the evening clinics in Chennai have been crowded with many patients.
In the 140 wards of GCC, the evening clinics of health and wellness centres have become popular now. Now, many patients throng these evening clinics in Chennai that function from 4pm in the evening to 8pm in the evening. It has been revealed that 60% of the outpatients at these heath and wellness centres have been visiting the evening clinics in the city.
As word about the evening clinics spread, there would be more patients visiting these clinics for getting treatment. This was mentioned by some GCC officers.
In this month, the CM of TN Mr. MK. Stalin inaugurated these evening clinics in Chennai and awareness created by GCC among the residents about these clinics has been superb. These evening clinics could be utilised by about more than 40lakh residents.
It is worthy to note that the concept of evening clinics have been introduced for the first time in 140 wards in the city to help the residents. This was according to Mr. Jagadeesan, chief health officer of GCC. He added that in a few months the remaining 60 wards would also get the evening clinics.
Encroachments on the site have been responsible for the delay in launching of evening clinics in some wards in Chennai now. In a few more days, encroachment present in ward 104 in Anna Nagar would be removed also. By this, many low income groups as well as middle income groups would get benefited. There are also demands to keep the evening clinics open till 10pm in the night to help more residents.
It is learnt that ward 176 in Adyar zone has been providing the residents now with blood tests, doctors check up for common illness plus other dental based, mental health based and gynaecological checkups etc.
