Due to heavy rainfall in Chennai, a car became stranded in floodwater beneath the Guindy Kathipara bridge. Continuous rain has been lashing various districts, including Tamil Nadu and Chennai, since last night. Consequently, District Collectors in six districts, namely Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, and Vellore, have ordered the closure of schools for today (June 19). Strong winds accompanied the heavy rain in Chennai, resulting in a massive tree falling onto the road in Ekatuthangal and obstructing traffic flow. Efforts are underway to remove the fallen tree. Authorities have swiftly responded to reports of rain-related damages, and municipal workers have been diligently working since midnight.
As a result of the relentless downpour, the car found itself trapped in rainwater beneath the Guindy Kathipara bridge, posing significant challenges for motorists. The ingress of rainwater into vehicles has caused breakdowns, forcing drivers to disembark and push their vehicles manually.
