CM J Jayalalithaa orders construction of new bridges in Thanjavur and Erode

Tamil Nadu Government Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa orders construction of new bridges at a cost of Rs 76 Crores in order to ease the traffic congestions in Erode and Thanjavur.

Due to absence of rail and road over bridges vehicles had to wait for long time at level-crossings, which leads to increase in travel time and wastage of fuel. Taking this into consideration, the government headed by Jayalalithaa had been taking several steps to construct road over bridges near level crossings for the benefit of the travelling public. In line with this, the Chief Minister yesterday announced construction of a new Railway over bridge between Sankagiri Durg and Erode Railway stations at a cost of Rs 40.16 Crore. the existing bridge, which connects Salem, Namakkal and Erode districts, was in a dilapidated condition, there was a need to construct a new bridge to ease traffic congestion which was caused by the presence of several industries and schools in the vicinity.Since the Railway department has expressed its inability to construct a new bridge, the Chief Minister ordered construction of the new rail over bridge using State funds

The Chief Minister ordered construction of a road over bridge between Thanjavur Town Railway station and Alakkudi Railway station at a cost of Rs 29 crore and a new bridge at a cost of Rs seven crore across Vennar river as part of the second phase of Thanjavur bypass road project to ease traffic congestion in Thanjavur town, which was one of the important towns with historical importance.
