Every year people are put into distress during the festive seasons. In spite of Railways introducing special trains during all the important festivals, the tickets are sold out in a couple of minutes. The main reason for this is online booking and touts. As usual this year also people were not able to get the tickets to travel to their destinations on Deepavali eve. The festival falls on November 2, and many people have booked their tickets on trains that depart on October 31 as they want to reach home a day before the festival. Seats are not available on Madurai on Pandian Express, Podhigai Express, Nellai Express and Ananthapuri Express. Similar is the situation on trains to Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Trichy. The demand was very high this time. Passengers will now have to wait for tatkal bookings to begin a day before departure. Special trains will be announced only closer to November.
As the southern trunk route is saturated, the railways are not able to introduce many special trains that are convenient for travelers.
