Recently, the Odisha train accident killed many passengers and this shook the entire nation. Now, General Manager of Southern Railways or SR Mr. RN. Singh reviewed the safety improvement and train services at 6 divisions of SR including Chennai and Trichy etc.

Point to be noted is that after the Odisha train accident the Railway Board or RB had directed each railway zone to carry out a survey and submit a report on the safety section. Measures were taken to inspect and maintain railway tracks, signal system, railway bridge etc. In this scenario, the southern railways general manager, Mr. RN Singh made his presence felt at 6 divisions including Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and Salem etc. He inspected railway tracks, signals and bridges etc for 2 days. He took suggestions from various officers and staff etc about safe running of trains, regulating train services and intensifying the inspection works etc.

According to some officers belonging to SR suggestions were given regarding safe running of trains and intensifying of surveillance works etc. The inspection works of chief officers belonging to engineering mechanical, signal technology division etc should be increased. Normally, for the improvement of the train services, opinions would be taken from the officials only but now last level workers have also been consulted regarding this.

It is now expected that even small suggestions could go a long way in the smooth running of the trains. This was mentioned by some officials from SR.
