On 24th, 25th and 26th July 2023, Disaster Risk Reduction Conference would be held in Chennai. In this conference, representatives of G20 countries would be taking part. To know about the progress made in this, chief secretary of TN Mr. Shivdas Meena took part in a consultation meeting yesterday.
It was mentioned in the press release from the TN govt that India would be presiding over the G20 conference to be held in Chennai from 1st December 2022 to 30th November 2023. Under the leadership of India, a new task force on disaster risk reduction has been set up at the G20. It added that in 3 different cities in India, three meetings of the task force coordinated by the National Disaster Management Authority or NDMA would be held. Point is that 2 meetings have been held in Mumbai and the third meeting will be held in Chennai on 24th, 25th and 26th July 2023.
Yesterday at the secretariat in Chennai, a meeting was held regarding the progress of this G20. It was chaired by the chief secretary Mr. Shivdas Meena. He welcomed the officers from the National Disaster Management Authority. It is worthy to mention that he instructed the concerned department secretaries to make the necessary arrangements to organise a 3 day meeting.
