The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for rain for four days from today (Thursday, 6th July) in Tamil Nadu. A rainfall of 18 cm has been recorded in Nilgiri Avalanche.
In a notification released in this regard by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned:
"Due to changes in the speed of the westerly wind blowing across Tamil Nadu, there are prospects for mild to medium rain for four days in Tamil Nadu and Pudhuchery in one or two places from today (Thursday, 6th July) until 9th July.
Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain somewhat cloudy in the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the city.
The maximum temperature will be 97 degrees Fahrenheit, and the minimum temperature will be 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
As of 8.30 AM yesterday (Wednesday, 5th July), the maximum rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours in cm: Nilgiri Avalanche – 18, Coimbatore Chinnakkallaru – 15, Vaalparai, Nilgiri District Melbhavani – 19. Coimbatore District Slolaiyaru, Cinchona, Theni District Periyaru – 9.
High-speed winds at 45-55 kmph and intermittently at 65 kmph today (Thursday, 6th July) across the Andhra coastal areas, Central-west Bay of Bengal, Tamil Nadu Coastal areas, Bay of Mannar and its adjacent Kanyakumari Ocean, and the Sri Lanka coastal areas, and the southwest Bay of Bengal.
As such, fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea in the above areas!"
