The Superintendent of Railway Police, Ponramu, has informed that a special squad of 10 policemen has been formed for the safety of passengers traveling on the Chennai Metro City Suburban Electric Train Service between Chennai Beach Station and Velachery - Mass Rapid Train System (MRTS).
It may be recalled that a recent tragic incident occurred where a girl student named Preethi fell from the train when culprits attempted to snatch her cell phone at the MRTS Indira Nagar Railway Station, which falls under the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS).
In response to this situation, the Railway Protection Force has initiated the deployment of Special Safety Squads to intensify monitoring and ensure passenger safety in the MRTS.
Regarding this matter, Superintendent of Railway Police, Ponmudi, informed that a Special Safety Squad of 10 police personnel has been deployed under the leadership of a sub-inspector on behalf of the Railway Police and the Railway Safety Department along the track between Chennai Beach and Velachery.
This Special Police Protection Squad will be responsible for monitoring activities during peak travel hours and throughout the night.
