The Chennai Meteorological Center Director, P. Senthamarai Kannan, has issued a press release stating that Tamil Nadu may experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning over the next five days. This weather pattern is attributed to an atmospheric upper circulation prevailing over the Central West Bengal Sea and the adjacent South West Bay of Bengal, as well as a change in the speed of western winds blowing towards Tamil Nadu.
According to the press release, today (July 14), some places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can expect light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. From the 15th to the 19th of July, one or two places in the region may also experience light to moderate rainfall.
The sky in Chennai and its suburbs is expected to be partly cloudy today, with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in certain areas.
Coastal areas of South Tamil Nadu, Gulf of Mannar, adjoining Kumari Sea, and Sri Lankan coastal areas may experience strong winds ranging from 45 to 65 km/h today, with the potential for hurricane-force winds.
Stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during rainfall and strong wind conditions.
