Prospects for rain in Tamil Nadu for 6 days!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed us that there are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas from today (Tuesday, 18th July) until Sunday (23rd July).

In a notification released on Monday (17th July) by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, it is mentioned:

"Due to changes in the speed of the westerly winds blowing towards Tamil Nadu, there are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in the regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from today (Tuesday, 18th July) until Sunday (23rd July).

Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain somewhat cloudy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in Chennai Metro City.

The rainfall recorded in mm until 8.30 AM yesterday (Monday, 17th July):

Dewala (Nilgiri), Paramakudi (Ramanathapuram) – 20
Manamadurai (Sivagangai) – 40
Koodalur Bazaar (Nilgiri), Mel Koodalur (Nilgiri), Sithampatti (Madurai), Arimanam (Pudukkottai), Thirumayam (Pudukkottai), Chinnakkallaru (Salem) - 30 each
Thallakulam (Madurai), Barwood (Nilgiri), Sivagangai, Thirupathur (Sivagangai) – 20 each
Melur (Madurai), Edappadi (Salem), Thanimangalam (Madurai), Pandhanallur Taluk Office (Nilgiri), Valparai Taluk Office (Coimbatore District), Naduvattam (Nilgiri), Kumarapalayam (Namakkal), and Kovilankulam (Virudhunagar) – 10 each

Warning for fishermen:

High-speed cyclonic winds are likely to blow at 65 kmph in the sections of the Bay of Bengal, South Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Bay of Mannar, and the adjacent Kanyakumari Ocean, and the central Bay of Bengal on Tuesday (today, 18th July).

High-speed cyclonic winds at 55 kmph are likely to blow across the Sri Lankan Ocean parts, the adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal, the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Andaman Ocean Region. As such, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea in the above-mentioned regions!
