Latest important info about land allotment for developing ORR in Chennai!!

To decide on the proposals for land allocation in the 50m strip along the eastern side of the ORR or outer ring road, a high level committee has been formed. This high level committee would be meeting in the first week of August.
It is now mentioned that 13 departments belonging to TN govt have come up with 59 projects and these projects would come up in 226 acres of land across the stretch. The textiles dept has sought 57.5 acres of land to implement the proposals.
Eight proposals of 40acres of land have been submitted by the TN Civil Supplies Corporation. For its 7 projects, TNIDC has sought 36 acres of land now. For 5 projects, Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation has sought 47.25 acres of land. It is worthy to note that IOCL has sought 12.48 acres of land for its 6 projects.
Projects have been proposed by several other departments like Aavin, Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services, Directorate of Arts and Culture, Handlooms Dept, Tidel Park, Sports Development Authority of India and TNFDC etc. Point to be noted is that ORR has been regarded as a high growth corridor with sustainable density levels.
To prepare a blueprint to develop one km stretch on both sides of ORR, a consultant was hired. The sources have confirmed that apart from preparing the detailed development plans, the consultant would also play a huge role in identifying plus in describing the suitable areas for the implementation of the land pooling area development scheme or LAPDS. The consultant would also prepare economic development plans etc along the ORR corridor.
