The Environment dept of the TN govt has signed a MoU with the United Kingdom or UK to set up botanical gardens in Chengalpet near Chennai. This would be in partnership with Kew Gardens, London. This would be as a part of many projects launched by the state govt.

It was revealed in an official release that the environment dept would provide Kew with the advice and expertise around landscape planning plus plant collection development etc.

Point is that Roadmap for Green Indexing of Industries for Industrial decarbonisation in TN was launched by the Environment minister Mr. Siva V. Meyyappan and UK Minister of state for climate Mr. Graham Stuart.

U.K. Partnering for Accelerated Climatic Transitions or UKPACT mangrove project would be implemented by Keystone Foundation in Nilgiris. This was inaugurated by Theresa Coffey who is the Minister for Environment and Forest in the UK.  It is learnt that the project would build capacities of local communities in the districts of Nilgiris, Cuddalore & Coimbatore etc.
