Southern Railway (SR) has introduced two weekly special fare trains to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Velankanni and Onam festivals. The decision aims to provide a convenient travel option for passengers planning to visit these popular festival destinations.
Train No. 06039 - Ernakulam to Velankanni Weekly Special Fare Special:
- Departure: 13:10 hrs from Ernakulam
- Dates: 28th August, 4th September, and 11th September (Mondays)
- Arrival: 05:40 hrs at Velankanni
- Coaches: AC Tier-II, two AC Tier-III, seven Sleeper Class, and two General Second-Class coaches
Train No. 06040 - Velankanni to Ernakulam Weekly Special Fare Special:
- Departure: 18:40 hrs from Velankanni
- Dates: 29th August, 5th September, and 12th September (Tuesdays)
- Arrival: 11:40 hrs at Ernakulam
- Coaches: AC Tier-II, three AC Tier-III, four Tier-III Economy, six Sleeper, and two General Second-Class coaches
Train No. 06020 - Thiruvananthapuram Central to Velankanni Weekly Special Fare Special:
- Departure: 15:25 hrs from Thiruvananthapuram Central
- Dates: 23rd August, 30th August, and 6th September (Wednesdays)
- Arrival: 04:00 hrs at Velankanni
- Coaches: Two AC Tier-II, three AC Tier-III, four Tier-III Economy, six Sleeper, and two General Second-Class coaches
Train No. 06019 - Velankanni to Thiruvananthapuram Central Weekly Special Fare Special:
- Departure: 18:40 hrs from Velankanni
- Dates: 24th August, 31st August, and 7th September (Thursdays)
- Arrival: 07:30 hrs at Thiruvananthapuram Central
- Coaches: Two AC Tier-II, three AC Tier-III, four Tier-III Economy, six Sleeper, and two General Second-Class coaches
The advance reservations for these festival special fare specials will commence on 29th July from 08:00 hrs onwards. Passengers are advised to plan and book their tickets in advance to secure a comfortable journey during the festive season.
