The arrival of dry westerlies over the state of Tamil Nadu has led to rise in the temperatures. Now, the weather is very hot and humid in Chennai. It is now revealed by the prediction made by weather dept officers that the hot and sultry weather would be there for this entire week in Chennai.
The temperature in Chennai city would be high for another 10 days and this was as per some weather bloggers. Yesterday, places like Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam recorded 38 degrees Celsius and 37.6 degrees Celisus respectively. Since the weekend, Chennai has been recording temperatures over 37 degrees Celsius. It was confirmed by a data from IMD that the average temperature in Chennai in August every year is 34.9 degrees Celius.
Dry winds arriving from the west coast (wheremonsoon activity has reduced significantly) have been responsible for the sudden increase in the day temperatures now in Chennai. This was pointed out by the Meteorologists. According to Mr. Senthamarai Kannan, director, regional weather forecasting center, IMD, Chennai it was clear that the cloudiness has reduced in Chennai and rain activity dipped in many places.
He hinted that the winds arriving from the north were dry in nature. It is learnt that the low pressure near the Bengal-Odisha coast has resulted in the winds concentrating around the low trough. This has been making the temp to rise in Chennai and across TN now.
Chennai in the next 2 days would have a maximum tem between 37 degrees to 38 degrees and a minimum of 28 degrees to 29 degrees. For atleast one week, there might not be any rains in and around TN. This was according to Mr. Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather. In the regions like AP, Telangana, Karnataka, Rayalaseema and interior Kerala etc, dry wind conditions would be there. As a result, Chennai would have high day temperatures.
