Scorching summer throughout Tamil Nadu: 100 Degrees Fahrenheit crossed in 18 places!

A temperature over 100 Degrees Fahrenheit was recorded in more than 18 places in Tamil Nadu and Pudhuchery! 

The intensity of the Southwest Monsoon rainy season has reduced in Tamil Nadu over the last week. As such, a dry climate has been prevailing in Tamil Nadu over the last 4 days.

As of yesterday evening (3rd August), the temperature crossed 100 Degrees Fahrenheit in 15 places in Tamil Nadu and Pudhuchery. As per the notification from the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre:

A maximum temperature of 42.10 Degrees Celsius was recorded at the Madurai Airport.

Chennai Meenambakkam, Nungambakkam, Karur Paramathi, Salem, Palayamkottai, Trichy, Thiruthani, Vellore, Karaikkal, Pudhuchery – 38, Cuddalore, Erode, Nagappattinam, Thanjavur – 39, Madurai, Thoothukkudi, Parangippeettai – 40 Degrees Celsius.

As high-speed winds at 65 kmph are likely to blow across the central Bay of Bengal, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal and adjacent to coastal Sri Lanka, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea in these areas!

In most other places, a temperature higher than normal was recorded.

A dry climate will prevail in the afternoon.

There are prospects for sudden rain in these places.
