On Sunday, 6th August 2023, as many as thousands of volunteers started a survey on the infrastructural deficits and gaps in the area. This was carried out as a part of efforts to redevelop north Chennai under Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam of CMDA. This survey was launched by Mr. P. Sekarbabu, minister for CMDA and HR & CE in Thiru Vi ka Nagar. Other important persona;lities who were present were Chennai Mayor Priya, Housing & Urban Development Secretary Apoorva and CMDA Member secretary Mr. Anshul Mishra etc.
As a part of the development programme, 13 public consultations would be held in many parts belonging to north Chennai. By this survey, gaps would be identified and implementation of better projects of growth and development of north Chennai. The social economic and psychological aspects of the north chennai residents would be surveyed by the volunteers.
The deputy commissioner (North) of GCC , Mr. Sivaguru Prabhakaran explained about how areas like Truvottriyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Kolathur and Anna Nagar etc would be covered in the survey.
Mammoth amount to be spent:
It is noteworthy that the chief minister of TN Mr. MK. Stalin has ordered an implementation of a development programme for north Chennai at an estimated amount of Rs 1000 crores. In the next 3 years, these projectw would be implemented in Chennai.
The survey was started yesterday by 500 students and 22 teaching staff belonging to Womens Christian College and 500 students and 42 teaching staff from MCC.
