After weeks of surging prices, tomatoes have seen a recent decline. In the past six days, rates have fallen by Rs 60-80, leading to a Rs 20 drop in prices at the Koyambedu market. This reduction affects all three tomato varieties, with the highest quality now priced at Rs 70 per kg, followed by Rs 60 and Rs 50 for lower grades. Unseasonal rains in July had initially driven up prices of tomatoes and other perishable goods. The decrease is attributed to a slight increase in supply within Tamil Nadu and other states.
