The heat wave resulted in rains in most parts of Tamil Nadu yesterday. The RMC or the regional meteorological center in Chennai has made it clear that today also there would be rains.
It has been mentioned in the notification issued by the TN metrological dept that for the last 4 days there has been a continuous dry weather. The heat wave has resulted in rains in 11 places. A maximum of 120mm of rain was recorded in Mukkaiyur yesterday. Places like Thanjavur, Manapoondi, Kumbakonam etc received 110mm of rain. Places like Parangipettai, Papanasam etc received 100m rains.
The notification added that there was rain in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet districts yesterday. It must be taken into note that in Thiruvallur the temp has increased by 4 degrees Celsius above the normal and Karur district had temperature 5 degrees above the normal. Districts like Erode, Salem, Kovai, Tiruvallur, Dharmapuri, Tirunelveli, Vellore etc witnessed a rise of 5 degrees in the temp. It is now said that due to the heat wave light to moderate rains would occur in TN and Puducherry from today till 16th of August.
