Good news about the opening of a unidirectional U shaped flyover on OMR in Chennai!!

With the works almost finished now, one of the twin unidirectional U shaped flyovers that is coming up in OMR would be open to the public. This flyover would be present near the Indira Nagar MRTS station. Just beyond the Tidel Park junction, another flyover is being constructed and this flyover would be open for public use in December 2023. It is said that the shifting of power cables and water lines has been responsible for the delay in the opening of the second flyover.
Those vehicles that come from Siruseri towards Madhya Kailash would have to take a U turn at the elevated level when the construction of the flyover between Madhya Kailash and Indira Nagar MRTS station gets completed. It has been pointed out by some sources from TNRDC that major works of U shaped flyover have been finished. The sources have explained that the painting work is going on and the bitumen laying work was delayed due to rains.
It must be recalled that to provide a solution for the traffic congestion issue at Tidel park and at the Indira Nagar junctions, the TN govt had sanctioned Rs 108.13 cr to construct a U shaped flyover at both these junctions.
Vehicles moving from Siruseri to Thiruvanmiyur would not be allowed to take a right turn either at Tidel Park junction or at the Indira Nagar junction when U shaped flyover gets inaugurated at Indira Nagar. The vehicles would be able to reach Thiruvanmiyur by using a new flyover for U turn and they would have to turn either left at Indira Nagar Second Avenue or at ECR.
The second flyover at Tidel Park would be completed by the end of December and this was revealed by a source from TNRDC. The sources concluded that the shifting of water lines and power cables have delayed the works.
