In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Mr. Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned:
"Due to the phenomenon of changing speeds of the westerly winds blowing towards Tamil Nadu, there are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder today (Monday, 14th August) in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Furthermore, there are prospects for mild to medium rain from tomorrow (Tuesday, 15th August) until the 19th of August in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain somewhat cloudy for the next 48 hours.
There are prospects for mild rain with lightning and thunder in a few parts of Chennai Metro City.
The maximum rainfall recorded in centimeters as of 8:30 AM yesterday (Sunday, 13th August): Virudhunagar District (Sathur) - 7 cm, Kanchipuram District (Chembarabakkam) - 7 cm, Kanchipuram District (Kundrathur) - 6 cm, Perambalur District (Cheetykulam) - 6 cm, and Tiruchirapalli District (Lalgudi) - 6 cm each."
