For the special occasions of poojas and prayers performed during the Tamil calendar month of Aavani, the corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temple, which were opened this morning (Wednesday), will be closed on the 21st of August.
The corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temple will remain open for performing the Mandala Poojas during the Tamil Calendar Months of Karthigai and Margazhi every year.
The corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temple are opened during the first 5 days of every month as per the Malayalam calendar, and special poojas and prayers are performed.
Furthermore, on the important festival days celebrated in Kerala, the temple corridors of Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan are opened, and special poojas and prayers are conducted.
Last week, the corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temple were opened for the special occasion of `Nirai puitharisi`. On this day, prayers for wellness and prosperity are offered to Lord Ayyappan Swamy, and paddy bunches are presented as a special offering.
The Tamil calendar month of Aavani is set to commence on the 18th of August. Melsanthi Jayaraman Namboodri will open the corridors of Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan Swamy at 5.00 PM tomorrow (Thursday, 17th August) in the presence of Sabarimalai Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru.
The temple will be cleaned, and the lights will be lit on this day. Apart from this, no other special poojas or prayers will be performed.
However, from the 17th of August until the 21st of August, the usual Daily Poojas such as Ghee (clarified butter) Abhishekham, Ganapathy Homam, Usha Pooja, Pushpabhishekham, etc., will be performed.
Furthermore, special Poojas, including Padi Pooja and Udhaysthamana Pooja, are scheduled to be performed.
