Frequent power cuts and power fluctuations have now become part and parcel of the lives of the residents of Chennai. In Spite of the residents complaining about these issues to the Tangedco, no action has been taken till now. The residents are totally upset now
Power outages have become an everyday affair now and this was as per a resident from Vadapalani. He spoke about how the electricity dept staff were unavailable to inform the residents about the issue. Within 2 hours, the power supply was cut twice in Kodambakkam and this was also pointed out by a resident.
It was later mentioned by some Tangedco officers that there was a minor maintenance work at the substation and the power supply was disrupted for just 10 minutes twice. For about 3 hours on Tuesday, there was no power in Appu street in Mylapore.
There has been an increase in the power cut in south Chennai localities like Ullagaram , Madipakkam etc. As per a resident here it was clear that even a short spell of rain causes power cuts. In the last 2 days, localities like Redhills, Aminjikarai etc also have power cut issues and the residents were unhappy.
Not being able to reach the officers concerned is a big issue for many residents now. Truth is that the Minnagaram call centre has been very busy and due to that the residents were unable to reach the staff or officials concerned. A fault in the neutral cable led to a power cut issue in Saidapet and this was explained by some Tangedco officers.
