Emphasis on strictly following traffic rules for lorries, especially during peak periods of traffic congestion!

As part of the activities undertaken to reduce accidents and loss of life, the traffic police have been strongly advised to strictly adhere to the traffic rules and regulations concerning water-tank lorries.
In a recent tragic incident, a 5th-grade female student died right in front of her mother`s eyes when she was run over by a water-tank lorry two days ago.
This tragedy deeply affected the public, and they mourned over it.
In addition to this, water-tanker lorries take to the roads in the mornings and evenings during peak traffic periods despite an imposed ban. Complaints have arisen stating that they are the cause of frequent accidents and loss of life.
Consequently, strict regulations were imposed to prohibit water-tanker lorries (both from the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) and private owners) from being on the road during peak traffic hours.
The public has appealed for immediate and stringent action to be taken against those who violate this ban.
Subsequently, the Chennai Traffic Police have emphasized that water-tanker lorries MUST NOT be on the roads from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the mornings and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Additional Commissioner of the Traffic Police Department has ordered that THE TRAFFIC POLICE MUST STRICTLY IMPLEMENT THIS BAN! Furthermore, it has been stated that permission to allow the use of water-tanker lorries will depend on the situation under unavoidable circumstances.
