Because the raw products of rubber, petrol and another 18 raw products, the price of the tyre has been increased by Rs 100-Rs 500. Productions of tyres for cycles, heavy and light vehicles are going in North India and also in Tamil Nadu. To manufacture a tyre, lots of raw rubber, petrol and 18 other raw products are required. This year there was less yielding of rubber. Because of this, the price has gone up. Similarly the petrol price is increasing day by day. Because of this the price of tyre has gone up.
Heavy vehicles like lorries are very much used in Namakkal and Salem districts. Tyres required for Namakkal lorries are procured in Salem itself. Now the rate of a tyre has been increased between Rs 100-Rs 500. Tyre merchants in Salem said, “ The first quality of tyres which are used for heavy vehicles like lorries and buses are sold between Rs 42 Thousands to Rs 45 Thousands. This has been increased by Rs 500 according to the quality. The second quality tyres are being sold from Rs 16,000 to 17,000. There is an increase of Rs 500 for these tyres also.”
