Inspite of platform fee charged, many Chennai residents prefer Swiggy even now!!

Founded in the year 2014 with its headquarters in Bangalore, Swiggy is a leading online food ordering and delivery platform with many customers. The CEO of Swiggy Food business, Mr. Rohit Kapoor expressed his feelings.
He spoke about how despite the decision to levy platform fee on the users Swiggy has not lost its customers. He added that the food delivery and dine out services have not gone down now. Point to be noted is that the platform fee is a standard feature across consumer tech categories such as ticket bookings etc. Irrespective of cart value, Swiggy has been charging a platform fee of Rs 2 per order since April.
It must be remembered that in March 2023 Swiggy made it clear that its food delivery business has turned profitable taking into account all corporate costs except the employee stock option costs.
Swiggy and its AI strategy:
It was mentioned that Swiggy has been supporting AI and it has got a superb team to drive its AI strategy. The AI is being used already in restaurant recommendations to the users plus helping in selecting a cuisine, in customer service touch points etc. Last year, Swiggy acquired DineOut. Point is that more social engagement layers would be added to the Swiggy app.
There has been 15% to 30% Y-O-Y growth from June 2022 to 2023 in the overall market place. In as many as in 600 cities and towns, Swiggy has been making its presence felt now. Currently, 2 major players have been dominating the food tech market.
