The autorickshaw fare was previously revised in the year 2013. In 2022 the High Court of Madras gave its order to revise the auto fares. The transport dept formed a committee later to hold consultation with the stakeholders. Until now, the aut fares were not revised.
It must be taken into note that the Home Secretary assured that the TN government has been considering the demand for launching its own ride hailing app like Olx and Uber etc.
Home secretary P. Amudha took part in a meeting at the secretariat with the autorickshaw union. After the meeting, Mr. S. Balasubramanian, general secretary of Auto Taxi Thozilalar Sangam spoke about how the chief minister Mr MK. Stalin would announce the revised auto fares soon.
It is noteworthy that the Home Secretary held a consultation meeting with CITU affiliated Union after they held a protest rally across TN on 25th of August.
