Who would have imagined that one day a railway coach at the Central railway station would be converted into a fantastic restaurant?
The railway coach Varaji Vihar would become an important place for dining for many commuters. The news is that the Southern Railways or SR have opened its first restaurant inside the railway coach Varahi Vihar.
It is now mentioned that the passengers would be able to dine in this aesthetically designed railway coach or can also order a takeaway and then board their trains. The main aim to open the restaurant here was due to the fact that there were no adequate restaurants present and footfalls were more than 3lakh to 4lakh passengers per day.
This suburban green and yellow coloured railway coach has been renovated with pine wood panelling plus leatherette sofas and granite topped tables etc. As many as 41 persons can eat here at a time and as manya s`120 people can eat at the self service area under an awning outside the coach. It was revealed by a private company staff that the food was good.
According to Mr. G. Yoganandhan who designed the interiors of the restaurant along with his partner Mr. Madhu, the railway coach was an abandoned one whose windows were cut open to fix glass windows. He added that the roof work was carried out to prevent leakage and heat from entering the restaurant. He concluded that in the restaurant foods like pizzas, pastas, brownies, sandwiches etc would be available.
