Various temples in Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Tiruchendur and Palani are to be provided with solar energy. Rameswaram temple will soon get the solar energy.
Additional Commissioner (HR & CE), Dhanbal while speaking said, “ There are 38,500 big and small temples under the control of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment.As per the advice of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, temples religious works, Kumbhabisekams and amenities to pilgrimages are being carried out.The ‘annadhanam’ scheme had been functioning, 35,000 pilgrims are being benefitted out of this. In Srirangam and Palani, there is Annadhanam throughout the day. This annadhanam scheme will be extended too many other temples also. Keeping in mind of electricity problems, it has been decided to use solar energy. Every big temple will have 10 kilowatt power production.”
