The DOTE or Directorate of Technical Education has informed that the polytechnic colleges in TN would be the locations for the electric vehicle or EV mobility centres.
It is well known that to reduce air pollution in TN many educational institutions lie Anna University etc have been carrying out research works on EV now.
According to a senior officer from DOTE, the state of TN has transformed into India`s EV hub in the last 5 years. He explained that TN govt has got a vision of attracting Rs 50000 crores worth of investments in the EV manufacturing. By this, about 1.5lakh new jobs would be created under the EV policy. It must be taken into account that the TN govt has decided to train the students at the diploma level.
Information gathered is that the state govt would enter into an agreement with the state owned FaMe TN (Erstwhile MSME Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau) and Smart e- mobility EV Solution Company. The Electric vehicles mobility centres would be established in the polytechnic colleges to train students.
It is now brought out that a centre would be established in the Coimbatore based Govt polytechnic college for women. In various mechanisms of EV, training would be provided to the students.
Re-designing of courses:
To suit the EV industry requirements, the curriculum in the polytechnic colleges in courses like electrical, electronic, mechanical and automobile etc would be redesigned. Centres of Excellence would be set up. There would be separate fund allocations for the EV mobility centres in the polytechnic colleges.
