Water Supply Interruption in Six Chennai Areas on August 31 and September 1

Posted on: 31/Aug/2023 10:30:48 AM
The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced that there will be no pipeline drinking water supply in at least six areas of the city on August 31 and September 1. This interruption is due to the interconnection work being conducted by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for the Kilpauk sewage treatment plant from Sterling Road.

As the underground metro rail work continues, the CMRL will interconnect the existing 750 mm diameter pipeline at the Kilpauk sewage treatment plant to a new 750 mm pipe at Sterling Road. The water supply will be halted in the following areas from August 31 at 7 pm until September 1 at 3 pm: Nungambakkam, Thousand Lights, T Nagar, Teynampet, Alwarpet, and Royapettah.

Residents are advised to store an adequate amount of water during this period. For emergency water needs, they can request water through trucks using the "Dial for Water" service, accessible through the website https://cmwssb.tn.gov.in.

However, the supply of drinking water to areas without water connections and low-pressure areas will continue as usual through tanks and trucks, without any disruption.
