Cheerful news: Vegetable prices crash at the Koyambedu wholesale market!

As the quantity of vegetables arriving at the Chennai Koyambedu wholesale vegetable, flower, and fruit market has increased considerably, the prices of vegetables, including Okra (Vendaikkaai) and brinjal (Katharikkai), have come down!

On Sunday, which was yesterday (3rd September), vegetables arrived in 530 lorries from various places at the Chennai Metro City Koyambedu wholesale vegetable, flowers, and fruits Supermarket.

Due to the larger quantities of vegetables that arrived, the prices of the vegetables came down significantly.

For instance, 1 kg of Okra (lady`s finger or Vendaikkaai) was sold at just Rs. 5 per kg, but even then, the retail traders did not show interest in buying them. Prices of brinjal, bitter gourd, drumstick, and ridged gourd (Peerkkangaai) also decreased.

Tomato, which was being sold at Rs. 200 per kg at the beginning of August due to a decrease in the quantity of arrivals, was sold at Rs. 18 per kg on the wholesale market on Sunday (3rd September). On the retail market, it was sold at Rs. 25 per kg.
