2 Lakh Applicants awaiting new electricity connection!

Complaints have arisen that the TANGEDCO Staff delayed giving new residential electricity connections deliberately!
The citizens in Tamil Nadu who need a fresh electricity connection need to apply for the same ONLY ONLINE ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE ELECTRICITY BOARD! The relevant Section Office staff will scrutinize the same and arrange for a fresh electricity connection.
In case all the requisite equipment is available on the place/location of the application, NEW ELECTRICITY CONNECTION MUST BE GIVEN WITHIN 10 DAYS!
However, this procedure is NOT being followed! Information is gathered that presently, there are 2 Lakh applications received for fresh electricity connection KEPT PENDING!
In this regard, the applicants shared:
"The staff explained that while the application is received, some of the documents were not clearly readable and hence requested a fresh registration of the application. Though this is completed, fresh connections are NOT given!
When asking about the inaction, they explain that energy meters are NOT available! They ask to submit a complaint to the Superintending engineer. When doing so, they explain that meters are available and they will arrange for a fresh connection! However, no action is taken!
They say they will give a connection if the bribe is given! As the monsoon rainy season is set to commence in the next month, the concerned officials MUST ARRENGE TO GIVE THE FRESH CONNECTIONS FOR THE PENDING APPLICATIONS!"
