Normally, flight services would get cancelled or delayed etc due to bad weather or due to some technical issues etc.
Now, at the Chennai airport, the flight services were affected due to the absence of pilots and engineers following the Vinayagar Chathurthi festival. Surprised!!
The absence of pilots and engineers have led to cancellation of Indigo Airlines flights that were supposed to leave from Chennai at 3am, Madurai at 10:20am and Mumbai at 8am.
On Monday, the flights that were supposed to arrive in Chennai from Mumbai and Madura were also cancelled. The shortage of cabin crew has led to delay in the take-off.
It is worthy to note here that flights to places like Andaman, Kozhikode, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Trichy, Madurai, Goa and Mumbai etc were delayed up to 2 hours. There were no proper announcements on the delays and cancellation of the flights and this made many passengers wait at the airport for a long time without any update on the flights.
