The Administration of the Chennai Metro Rail Company has presented the Feasibility Report for the Chennai Metro Rail Link between Koyambedu and Avadi.

The Chennai Metro Rail has been undertaking various expansion projects to meet the demands of the ever-increasing population in Chennai Metro City!

In this regard, personnel from various fields put up the demand that the Metro Rail Service functioning at Koyambedu MUST be extended up to Avadi.

The administration of the Chennai Metro Rail Company which scrutinized this demand has taken a decision to extend the Metro Rail Service from Koyambedu to Avadi.

As such, Chennai Metro Rail has decided to take up the project of linking Koyambedu to Avadi via Thirumangalam and Mugappair covering A DISTANCE OF 16.07 KM for Rs. 6376 Crores including 15 elevated Chennai Metro Rail Stations.

In the feasibility report prepared for this project, it is recommended that this project is feasible and should be taken up.

Further, there is another project to be taken up – the Chennai Metro Rail Link between Siruseri to the Kilambakkam Bus Terminus covering a distance of 23.5 km including 12 elevated Chennai Metro Rail Stations.

The administration of the Chennai Metro Rail Company submitted the Feasibility Report on the above projects to the State Government of Tamil Nadu on Thursday (Yesterday, 21st September).

As the number of passengers in the section from Siruseri to Kilambakkam via Kenambakkam is relatively very low, it has been presently recommended to only increase the number of Chennai Metro City Buses in this area.

At the same time, the Senior Officials of the Chennai Metro Rail Company have informed that after the completion of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase-2,  they have recommended to undertake the preparation of the feasibility report of linking the extension of the Kenambakkam (South) linking via  Thirupporur and Mamallapuram!
