On Tuesday, 26th of September 2023, there was a strike in Karnataka against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu is known.

The news is that the interstate buses came to a grinding halt on Tuesday due to this strike. It is worthy to note that about 430 buses (350 buses from Salem division and 80 buses from Villupuram division) were stopped at Hosur in Krishnagiri without moving towards Karnataka. What was surprising was that the private buses and KSRTC buses ran usually from Hosur to Karnataka.

Town buses plying from Hosur to Attibele in Karnataka (buses that were operated by TNSTC) ran only till Karnataka border. Many passengers were unhappy that they had to walk about 2kms to get into the buses to go to Karnataka. There were some passengers who hired autos also.

Deserted look of Hosur-Bengaluru Highway:

As all the shops, hotels plus other commercial establishments were shut down the Hosur- Bengaluru Highway wore a deserted look yesterday. Yesterday, there were non- operation of 20 govt and private buses from Sathyamangalam to Kollegal, Samraj Nagar, Mysore and Bengaluru etc. At the interstate border of Thalavady, the buses were stopped.  At the Bannari check post and at the Sathyamangalam bus stand, police personnel were deployed.
