Special Medical Camps Across Tamil Nadu: Preventing Infectious Diseases, Including Dengue!

In the special medical camps organized throughout Tamil Nadu State at 2,183 locations, 1.43 lakh citizens were tested for infectious diseases, including dengue fever.

Widespread rains have occurred in Tamil Nadu State, leading to an increase in the breeding of mosquitoes, viruses, and bacteria. There has been an outbreak of dengue fever, and a large number of citizens affected by dengue and other infectious fevers have been admitted to government and private hospitals and are undergoing treatment.

As a result, the Department of Health of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has undertaken various initiatives to intensify the prevention activities for infectious diseases.

As part of this effort, special medical camps were organized throughout Tamil Nadu on the 1st of October (yesterday) at over 100 locations. It was originally planned to conduct these special medical camps at 100 places on the 1st of October. Accordingly, special medical camps were organized at 2,138 locations, including government hospitals and primary health centers, in residential areas throughout the State of Tamil Nadu on the 1st of October (yesterday).

A total of 142,978 citizens were tested, and it was found that 1,434 citizens had fever, while 1,360 citizens had cold and cough issues. Eighteen citizens who were severely affected were recommended for admission to government hospitals for treatment.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu State Minister for Health, Ma. Subramanian, undertook an inspection visit to the special medical camp organized at the Coimbatore Corporation in Chinnavedampatti.

Chennai Metro City Mayor R. Priya visited the special medical camp organized at Chennai Metro City`s Pattinappakkam Srinivasapuram. Deputy Mayor Mu. Mukesh Kumar, the Director of the Department of Public Health and Disease Prevention, Thi. Si. Selvavinayakam, and Chennai Corporation Officer M. Jagadeesan also participated in this visit.

Chennai Metro City Mayor Priya shared:

"Special medical camps are being organized in Chennai Metro City at 45 locations, with three locations assigned to each of the 15 zones of the city. A total of 3,962 medical camps have been organized from June to date (2nd October), benefiting 133,589 citizens.

Dengue awareness is being promoted among school and college students and teachers through the Health Inspectors of GCC (Greater Chennai Corporation). Efforts are underway to distribute leaflets about dengue fever, mosquito breeding, and preventive measures."
