Standing in the open sunshine or rain can be a bitter pill to swallow for many passengers!!
Passengers going towards southern suburbs like Vandalur, Perungalathur, Thiruporur etc from the entrance of the Tambaram railway station often find it very difficult as there is no bus shelter there. As a result, the passengers stand under the open sunshine or rains and wait to catch their buses.
It was pointed out by a resident that at Perungalathur the sewage had infiltrated the bus shelter and hence the people would have to stand very close to the moving vehicles. This was due to little space between the bus stop and traffic flow near a busy flyover. The resident was annoyed about how the people who come here to catch the buses have to wade through sewage.
Now, the superb news is that Tambaram Corporation has decided to construct bus shelters in its jurisdiction with a budget of Rs 5 cr. It was explained by Alaghumeena, Corporation Commissioner that there were plans to conduct field surveys to identify the locations with huge riderships plus places where the already present bus shelters were in poor condition. New bus shelters would be built based on the complaints.
